NASA Unveils Its Toughest Challenges Yet

Racing all-terrain lunar vehicles, deploying a solar sail, and keeping a solar sail anchored at a certain point in space for 90 consecutive days are among some of the new challenges set by NASA, all of which come with major cash prizes.  The space agency is preparing to ramp up its Centennial Challenges programme of space exploration and technology competitions with six new goals and prizes ranging from $500,000 to $5 million.
